The course deals with the valorisation and the management of historical buildings and sites.

Starting from the present debate regarding Cultural Heritage, this course focuses on theories and methods for heritage conservation with an emphasis in developing the instruments for conservation planning. As a result, it illustrates the process of identification, documentation, assessment, diagnostics, evaluation of intervention on historic buildings.

Furthermore, lessons will show preservation technologies and their application on study cases: from the damage assessment to the restoration and planning conservation after/instead of the intervention. On the base of the collected data, students will perform a diagnostic plan in order to verify the cause of damages, to develop the project of management and the conservation plan.
