The Urban Design class will teach, through slide lectures, presentation of case studies, exercises, and readings of papers and book excerpts, discussion on different topics, how to deal with the design of city portions. Lectures are organized around a series of steps that are part of a process. Following these steps: Instances, Knowledge, Summary, Options, Dialogues, Master Plan, Communication, Details, and Implementation, a case study analysis will be performed in order to develop the critical and synthesis capacity of the students. The student’s ability to apply the theoretical concepts presented during the Urban Design course lectures will be tested through a project proposal –concept plan- based on an International competition simulation.
